Dates of 35th National Games announced! 7 Districts, 26 Venues and 1200 medals!


The 35th edition of the National Games will be held in Kerala from January 31 to February 14 next year in various venues across 7 districts. Kerala is hosting the National Games for the second time after a gap of 28 year.
The dates for the biggest national sporting event were announced by Indian Olympic Association president N Ramachandran in the presence of Union Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal at a colourful function in the Assembly complex, Trivandrum.
A total of 11,641 participants, including 7,744 athletes will take part in the 35th National Games. Athletes will compete for 1,200 medals at 26 venues in seven districts in Kerala over a period of 15 days. There will be 365 gold medals, an equal number of silver medals and 477 bronze medals.
Trivandrum will be the main venue where majority of the games takes place. The opening and closing ceremony will take place at the upcoming Multipurpose International Stadium at Kariavattom.
The construction of the stadium is progressing on full swing. Swimming Pool at Pirappancode, Jimmy George Indoor Stadium, Cycling track at LNCPE are all ready for the National Games.
Meanwhile, Shooting Range at Vattiyoorkavu is also progressing fast. Civil works are 72% complete and electrical works are 30% complete. The construction work of the pre-fabricated Games Village units at Menamkulam has already started.  A total of 365 pre-fab houses, each with an area of 680Sq.Ft are built using “Prefab Technology”.
Apart from the capital city, other venues of National Games are in Kollam, Alappuzha, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur.
